Koan Study: Wasted Time

An older student confided in Master Li. "Master, I am pleased to seek oneness with the Tao, but I mourn all the years I have wasted doing pointless things" Master Li said, "There is nothing to mourn. Any awakening for a year, month, day, or a brief moment is to be celebrated. It often takes a long time and much illusion to create an awakening. Appreciate the moment in front of you, do not look back mournfully at that which cannot be changed."

  1. If one becomes one with Tao, there could be no mourning, I guess; one will be grateful for all the experiences leading him/her to Present Bliss.
