Three Great Treasures

There are three great treasures of the Tao that we should honor. The first treasure is compassion for from compassion comes courage. The courage to care about others, help those less fortunate, to care for our planet that gives life to all beings. The second treasure is frugality from which comes generosity to others. By using less, we can give more; Tao Te Ching Verse 77 states that to give away what we do not need is to follow the Way. The third treasure is humility for from it comes importance. By being lower, we set the standard for being higher. Those who are fearless, but without compassion, rich but miserly, or influential, yet self-important, cannot endure.
