Fame

A wise man knows that knowing himself is far more precious than knowing fame. Fame is like a candle that can burn itself out or be quickly extinguished. He knows that rank and reward hold no value for someone who is one with themselves. He does not seek the spotlight. Instead, he does his work quietly and is content to remain in the shadows. He is at peace with being obscure in his manner, vague in his ways, and enigmatic with his life. He does his work and then rests. In doing so, he remains obscure and mysterious, in perfect harmony with the Dao.
