The Dao is detached from all even though it is a part of all. The follower of the teachings also remains detached from the world he encounters each day. Even at work, in meetings, or anywhere else, he finds himself separate from the hubbub. He observes, learns, and acts with wisdom. He may be seen as cold and indifferent, or aloof, but he demonstrates great compassion when needed.
