We live in a world now where there is little loyalty and even a smaller amount of shame. Virtue is going the way of the dodo bird. We can perhaps think back and laugh when our parents may have voiced the same opinion. The common belief is that this decline in morality and ethics is merely some kind of symbolic occurrence and that is not decline but evolution. Yet, I submit to you that in each and every generation, a little more is chipped off and the day will come where there will be little left to be further chipped. Some may call it progress and it would be foolish to deny that some of it is progress and refining, but much more is merely vandalism and the pieces are broken and laying on the dusty floor, to be swept up and discarded. The ancients taught modesty, generosity, and courage. Those are virtues that we would be wise to adhere to.
