Route 66

On October 7, 1960, the first episode of the television drama "Route 66" airs on the CBS television network. The actual Route 66 was a two-lane highway that ran from Chicago to Los Angeles which still exists and can be driven in portions. Some of it is now abandoned and no longer able to carry traffic.  It was built in the late 1930s, and it was one of the major routes across the southwestern portion of the United States and has become a legend. Oddly, the television show had little connection to the road it was named for. It did feature however an outstanding theme song performed by Nelson Riddle and written by the actor Bobby Troup who later went on to star in the television show Emergency! It might be said that the follower of the Dao takes Route 81, the 81 being for each verse of the Tao Te Ching. It is a journey well worth taking.
