Answers In A Parking Lot

He sat there in the dark parking lot long after the other patrons had left. He was taking stock of his life as he had so many times before and as had happened so many times before, he saw himself coming up short. He had answers as to why but they weren’t convincing. He always had felt a dark cloud had been following him around, only lifting for a few moments and then settling back in. Oh, his life wasn’t terrible by any means, but he lacked contentment; a commodity not available on the local convenience store shelf. Someone had mentioned to him about reading the Tao Te Ching, but he saw little relevance in what some old Chinese man had written thousands of years ago. No, this was too now, too personal. What could he possibly learn? The answer is more than he could ever imagine.
