The Tale of Terry Sawchuk

Terry Sawchuk was an ice hockey goaltender primarily for the Detroit Red Wings…he was an eleven time all-star and a four time Stanley Cup winner…he is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame…I read in a book somewhere that he was tense when things were going good, but relaxed when things weren’t going so good…kinda the opposite of most folks…he tragically died in 1970 in a roughhousing incident with teammate Ron Stewart in which Sawchuk readily admitted was a fluke when he fell on Stewart’s knee and suffered a damaged gall bladder and liver…he died after an operation on his bleeding liver…some hockey people considered him to be the greatest goalie ever…you never know when your number is gonna come up…or how.
